How to Decorate Your Home for Christmas

It’s almost time to deck the halls once more; read our top tips for making your home both floral and festive this year!

From gorgeous festive bouquets to welcoming Christmas wreaths, there are plenty of ways to spruce up your home and make the season merry.

If you’re looking for some inspiration, we’re here to help, and we’ve got plenty of beautiful Christmas decorations to choose from for an effortlessly stunning look this year.

Christmas Bouquets

A beautiful bunch of flowers is the perfect way to bring some colour into your home and fight off the winter chill! There’s plenty of flowers that you can work seamlessly into your Christmas decorations.

For a traditional and joyous Christmas look, a red and green colour scheme is easy to create. Amaryllis is our top pick – its bright red blooms are full of festive cheer, and they’re also very long-lasting so you can enjoy them throughout the season. Red roses, hydrangeas, and lilies are all excellent options too, and look fantastic nestled amongst wintry foliage like spruce, skimmia, berries, and pinecones. Add some golden leaves for an opulent and festive finish!

Alternatively, turn your home into a winter wonderland with a snowy palette. Pair blooms like white roses, amaryllis, and lilies with pine cones, pine, and silver leaves for a rustic, wintry look.

Of course, you don’t have to stop at bouquets – it’s easy to add some floral flair to your Christmas tree as well. Simply trim the stems to the right length, and place them in water tubes to keep the flowers fresh. Then, simply pop them on to your tree. It’s a great way to make use of longer lasting flowers like carnations, chrysanthemums, and amaryllis, when the other flowers in the bouquet have faded.

Christmas Wreaths

Christmas wreaths have been a festive tradition for centuries, with the circular shape and evergreen foliage representing eternal life and growth. They’re the perfect way to make your home feel cosy and welcoming over Christmas.

With a bit of work, it’s not too hard to make your own. Pine’s a great and long-lasting base which you can decorate with berries, pinecones, and other festive greenery.

If you’re looking for an easier option, we’ve also got three fresh wreaths to choose from here at Blossoming Gifts! Our wreaths will usually last a few weeks without too much fuss – simply give them a mist every few days to perk them up. It’s best to hang them outside, as central heating can cause them to dry out more quickly.

Christmas Tree

The Christmas tree’s always the star of the show! If you’re looking for inspiration on on how to decorate yours, make sure to read our article for some great ideas and themes to use this year.

If you’ve not got space for a full-sized tree (or just want a tree in every room), a mini Christmas tree is the perfect solution! We’ve got a great selection of super cute trees that come ready to go with lights, baubles, and a fetching velvet pot. They’re real too – perfect for anyone who can’t get enough of that fresh pine scent – and you can even plant them in your garden once Christmas is over.

Christmas Plants

Want to enjoy long-lasting blooms throughout the festive season and beyond? A beautiful house plant is the way to go!

Poinsettia’s always a classic – it’s the most popular Christmas houseplant in the UK, with its bright red bracts adding a lovely pop of festive colour.

It’s not your only option though – amaryllis plants also bloom in the winter, and their flowers usually last around 2 months before they fade, making them an excellent long-lasting addition to your Christmas decorations.

Alternatively, white orchid and rose plants are perfect if you’re going for a snowy look, whilst red rose plants bring lovely fragrance and festive colour.

Christmas Table Centres

An elegant centrepiece is the perfect finishing touch for your Christmas dinner table. You can use a bouquet for this, or alternatively take a look at our ready-made table centre if a candlelit Christmas dinner is what you’re after! We’ve used a festive pine base, and decorated it with red roses, carnations, berries, and pinecones, with a candle. Everything you need for a cosy Christmas dinner!
