Who would of thought that food could be lucky?

It is believed that eating these foods the day before New Years Day will bring you a year of wealth, prosperity and good health. Many of us don’t believe in luck, the truth behind this is that most of us don’t experience ‘luck’ and we class ourselves as ‘unlucky,’ so we tend to forget about it. However, it’s worth a shot and you have got nothing to lose, try some of these foods and see what 2016 will bring you!

Pork

new year food

Oh yummy pork, a favourite food amongst us Brits, eating bacon, sausages and gammon on a regular basis. I bet you all had the pigs wrapped in blankets on Christmas dinner. Pigs are considered a lucky symbol, the luckiest to eat on New Year’s. Why? Pigs root forward with their big noses, this symbolises progress. Also, they are rotund, this represents prosperity. However, if you are veggie, the next food option will be more up your street.

Beans

Beans are a great source of protein, you can pop them in just about any dish and they will be great for soaking up that champagne! But how are they lucky? Well beans, especially green beans resemble money and symbolise coins, they do look a bit like coins don’t they?

Cake

Eat a ring shaped cake and you are in for a chance to become a very lucky person in 2016. We all love cake don’t we? And there’s no celebration without some spongy sugary goodness! These sort of cakes symbolise coming a full circle.

Fish

A nice fish dish can make a delicious dinner, what ever fish fillet you eat, it will help bring luck to your new year. Fish are believed to be lucky due to their scales, as these resemble coins. They also swim in schools which invoke the idea of abundance.
