What is your favourite flower(s) and why?

Maybe a slightly unorthodox answer but I absolutely adore lavender and violets! Lavender smells divine and is so relaxing. Everyone needs to go and visit the Cotswold lavender fields, they might just be the most beautiful place I’ve ever been to. Violets, I love for a totally different reason. When I was little, my nan would take me for walks around the countryside where I was born. In spring, she would pick up violets and press them against my eyes because according to a local tradition that brings good health and good luck to your life. What a sweet tradition, right?

What special occasions do you send/receive flowers for?

Strangely, I both receive and give flowers on the most random days rather than on special occasions. Sometimes I can just be walking around the city and see a florist selling pretty bunches, how could you not pick up one (or two!)?

Do you remember the first time you were given flowers and how you felt?

I remember getting a bunch of red gerberas from my first boyfriend. It was my birthday and he’d arranged the blossoms on a dish full of water so they looked like they were floating, it was ever so thoughtful of him!

Do you think it is important to keep fresh flowers in the home and why?

Absolutely! It has been scientifically proven that flowers improve our mood, emotional and also physical health. I am quite a worrier by nature, so I always keep a lot of living plants and flowers around me which I find incredibly soothing.

What is your favourite flower(s) and why?
My ultimate favourite flower has to be the carnation, with the peach carnation being at the very top of my list. I think they’re incredibly girly, delicate, last forever and they’re not too fussy. We’re going to be filling our wedding venue with lots and lots of carnations when we get married in October!

What special occasions do you send/receive flowers for?

I don’t tend to receive flowers for special occasions as we do have flowers around the house most weekends. However, I do love to buy a couple of big bunches for my mum, and mother-in-law for Mother’s day.

Do you remember the first time you were given flowers and how you felt?
My mum & my auntie planned a scavenger hunt for me one easter, full of lots of fun clues and tricks. Right at the end, I found an adorable little ornament with potted flowers, and I felt so special! I was probably around 6 or 7 at the time.

Do you think it is important to keep fresh flowers in the home and why?

I love to have flowers around the house! It’s a great way to give your rooms a mini makeover, plus the smell of fresh flowers is just divine! I think it’s definitely a mood booster too, who can feel sad when you have a big bunch of flowers?

What is your favourite flower(s) and why?

My favourite flowers are yellow roses and blue cornflowers.
Yellow roses really brighten up the room and the colour seems to go with everything! Another reason I like them so much is the smell; few things (other than hyacinths!) smell as good as roses.
I love the deep, rich blue of cornflower petals. These flowers are understated but that’s the beauty of them – you can put a big, oversized vase of cornflowers on the table without them looking overpowering. And they don’t just look nice, they attract pollinators too. Wherever there are cornflowers growing outdoors, there are bees!
What special occasions do you send/receive flowers for?
I mostly buy flowers for Mother’s Day and birthdays but I also like to surprise people with flowers all year round; to thanks, cheer up or well done. Sometimes I buy them, sometimes I put bouquets together from flowers growing in our garden.
Do you remember the first time you were given flowers and how you felt?
I don’t remember the very first time I received flowers as a gift. Although one of the most memorable occasions was going on holiday and getting engaged – when we landed at the airport, family were waiting for us with a bunch of yellow roses to say congratulations.
Do you think it is important to keep fresh flowers in the home and why?
Having fresh flowers in the house is a way to bring nature indoors. One of the best things about this is the change in seasons and what they bring. At the moment it’s mostly berries, holly and foliage. But in a few months when nature wakes up there will be lots of colourful flowers and plants to choose from.
